place like forsyth county, you see walker wins the county, but take a look here. how does that compare to how he did in november? it s a little bit better than how he did in november. but, of course, warnock also managed to improve in forsyth county. there was a libertarian who got 3% of the vote but not last night. this is how brian kemp, the republican governor who easily won the governor s election in november, this is how he did in forsyth county. he got 72%. that was walker s other challenge coming into last night. in a place like forsyth county, big republican county where he had run far behind kemp in november, he needed to get his number last night up close to where kemp s was. and he didn t do that. he didn t do it in forsyth. he didn t do it next door in cherokee county. he didn t do it in this whole set of counties kind of ringing
democratic friendly. the early vote tends to be very democratic friendly. but either way, either way you look at it, it appears in somerset county tell appears an opportunity for murphfy to pick up votes here. it used to be a big republican county. you see ciattarelli currently is building substantially on that trump support. i do think there s some vote out here that will bring murphy up a little bit and ciattarelli down a little bit, if you re murphy, trying to make up votes statewide, if you pick up a few hundred votes that could be a significant thing. also potentially significant, it appears there s a number of precincts in essex county newark and the area that have not reported their same-day vote. in essex county, some of the precincts depending on where exactly you re talking about in the county can be extremely democratic. there s an opportunity as well
same-day vote, the election day vote out. i ve been trying to figure out when is that vote coming? i ve been talking to folks there in new jersey. and i can tell you there s a lot of confusion among political types in new jersey tonight about the slow pace of these vote returns. essex county right now, why is it still only here? a lot of people are wondering about that right now in essex county, but that s a big piece of it. we need to see more vote in essex county to get a read on exactly what it looks like there. the areas that have come in with the most votes so far, places like hunterdon county that have traditionally been republican areas and ciattarelli is really running up great numbers here. you know, trump won hunterdon county by barely four points in 2020. ciattarelli tonight is winning it by more than 20. take a look down at ocean county. not only is ciattarelli this is always, even with donald trump was a big republican county. and there s a lot of people that live in o
just for hill bit of contrast here, president trump gets 61% in this county. the republican candidate right now is just at 50%. come over to this other big republican county, rick saccone s at 56% if you ronald that up. president trump was at 65%. so, again, you re not going to get the turnout numbers in a non-presidential year. but in terms of the percentages, rick saccone has to get pretty close to where the president was. if you re looking at it right now, 58%. votes are starting to come in quickly here. conor lamb holding on because of this, the lead in allegheny county, which is up to 72%. 10,000 votes. that s the different right now. i suspect we re going to get a lot more votes in the coming minutes. we re going to continue our special coverage on this important congressional special election right after this.
20 points. the previous republican didn t have an opponent the last two elections in a row. our panelists have been talking about how conor lamb has run a race for the district. when we get up to 91, they jumped from 88 to 90% here in washington county. and again, that s a lead in a republican county, but i would guess go back to the district as a whole. look at this now. the lead for conor lamb is now only 703 votes. 49.9% to 49.5%. look at how tight this race is with 94% of the vote in. and so let s look again. what went up? 97%, westmoreland county. the westmoreland county part, that jumped up. it s a republican area, so that s why. now you re just shy of 10,000 votes there for the lead there. i said earlier, probably needs to be at 60% in the part of westmoreland county that s in the district to win. these numbers have been inching up. might not be high enough, but they are moving up. that s where those votes came from. when this went up to 97%, i want to check over here, 90%
