The search for truth is complicated: There are many versions of it, many disagreements about what it even means. The idea of fact is something we feel better prepared to defend on objective grounds.

And the president took a dip in his favorability ratings this week.

MSNBC’s Katy Tur welcomed CBS chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett and the executive director and founder of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, David Becker on to her Tuesday program to discuss their new book, The Big Truth, which contains a bit of civil war fan fiction.

Michigan has over one thousand election systems, but it only takes one secretary of state to throw them into chaos.

“We have a serious shortage of judges and poll workers,” Cook County Clerk Yarbrough said. “The clerk’s office manages elections in suburban Cook County and we’ve seen our number of election judges shrink significantly in recent years. Over the last eight years, we’ve seen a reduction of about 40%.”

They’re not even trying anymore.
