I wanna go to Douglas.    My 2-year-old knows no one of that name. She wanted to see a tree.  Throughout the pandemic, the two of us have trekked rain or shine to the green canopy of a solitary neighborhood Douglas fir. There, we ve scavenged twigs and cones below its trunk, played countless games of peek-a-boo around its rugged bark or just stared upward as the wind blew through its branches. It s an impressive conifer to a man; it must be larger than life to a toddler. And yet, no matter how colossal they become, they remain grossly underestimated by the society that today surrounds them.
