to go from door to door people who are interested come to us. is back from the markets and the grandchildren are awake her son and daughter in law are at work so she has to look after the children no time for a break at this it's horrible moment i'm 60 years old and i think my life is almost over i do anything to give my children and grandchildren a better future i hope they have a better life. and hot water straight from the tap is a good place to start. now a group of environmental engineers in bali is doing something fascinating they've been to the window by an outside their bike workshop in one of the largest box in the city capable of generating its own power this means they're not connected to the city's electric grid and sustain it when it comes to their daily energy needs let's look at why they built it in house cannibal this practice of sustainable. this bicycle workshop is actually based inside the steel container. recently it was even kitted out with lights. and music keeps the workers in a good mood. the workshop is located in tempelhof park on the fields of berlin's former airport. most impressively the power is generated by a homemade wind turbine that rises 10 meters above the ground. the turbine can also power small devices like lamps and radios and it stores the power for when there's no wind. just. the electricity from the turbine comes in here is 3 phase alternating current it's then diverted to the top to the rectifiers that converts the 3 phase alternating current to direct current for the batteries it 1st goes through a fuse to protect the system then it goes to the batteries here of the batteries connected in series. the turbine was designed by environmental engineers emmanuelle gone and. the turbine comes a self-assembly kit it costs around $400.00 euros and most of the components can be found at scrap yards. through here emanuel is welding on the rear axle of a car which will allow the turbine to rotate in the wind. things. that i find fascinating is that you can build this really complex products yourself wind turbines are complex and many processes go into building one today they're also being built on a large industrial scale we have a lot of big megawatt wind turbines here in germany but to build one you don't need a high tech factory all you need is the know how and a few tools i take out. the engineers also give workshops to teach people how to build the turbines along with know how it takes concentration and patience. and. magnetic coils that's how the generator creates electricity. it's just one of the skills the participants learn in the workshop it takes a week of work to get the system up and running. and maintenance station for the rotor blades has been set up in the basement would often has not holes which makes the blades less aerodynamic so these bumps and holes need to be smoothed out. well the conversion of wind power to electricity depends on the right of blades they can be wood rotor blades or the large a proxy resin blades used in industrial wind turbines if they were smooth and perfect then the conversion of wind into electricity is less efficient to. the wind turbine at tempelhof park regular checks this time. dorner going at themselves they're convinced they're turbines could be very useful in places that aren't connected to feel like trickle grid. and that's been. if the wind turbine is built properly and has a decent sized battery bank it could supply energy to a village in a rural area in another country on the. bike workshop in temple of park has more plans mourning identifying their loved ones at the. hospital. the homemade wooden bridging a logistics gap in the democratic republic of congo you'll be surprised. hello i'm christine want to welcome to news africa. we begin in tanzania where the death toll in the field tanker explosion in waterbottle has risen to 75 hospital officials say 4 more people succumbed to the injuries the 2nd day of national mourning song relatives identifying their loved ones at the morgue on sunday a mass funeral was held for some of the victims. mourners as far as the eye can see. are gathered in grief. the bereaved struggle to overcome the shock of this tragedy c. some are still waiting for confirmation. but it was. used to work as a motorcycle courier he left to go to work. around 8 am one of my customers told me about the news of the explosion and most of the victims were motorcycle drivers . themselves but because of his job i rushed to go to the hospital. even now i have no news about where my husband is whether he is still alive or that . that is that is that we are just doing a. disaster struck morgaro on saturday morning doesn't run to siphon petrol from a crushed fuel tanker when the combustible cargo exploded ripping through this community. but the good people are all over collecting the fuel i was there myself but i had no intention of joining them i was urged by a friend to join in collecting the fuel but i refused later i heard people screaming fire fire going to stop. such was the scale of the carnage many of the survivors had to be airlifted 200 kilometers away to doris salaam. doctors say most of the victims have severe burn injuries covering 80 percent of their body us . president john mica foully visited some of them in hospital and begged his citizens to stop rushing to dangerous field spells in the future. across africa deadly blasts like this one are all too common nevertheless many here hope this tragedy made yet sara has a cautionary tale. joining me now for more on the story is africa's harrison and william a welcome to harrison you're from tanzania and you've been hearing a lot you know from home and just just how are people reacting to this tragedy it was very hard to see 1st of these pictures and videos circulating in social media you know the people we have burned. on the ground it was very very hard to see those pictures and there are quite some discussions in social media on why this is happening. so many people are dying within a very short time. so it was tough yet tough tough as it may be harrison i mean it begs the question it's been say that the death toll was as high as it is because people literally read from the homes they brought jerry cans to the side to to siphon feel it begs the question harrison is is it a sign of desperation that people would risk their lives in such a way i mean some people in our portfolio as they were called to come to scene and said no it's dangerous but so many people did go is it is a desperation hires why would so many people have gone. one can talk about dispersion because you know this is an opportunity to get free fuel so for some people sitting at overturned tunk lying on the ground there it's an opportunity to get free oil right but again the president often he also mentioned this when i was visiting the hospital that some of the people he met at the hospital we're not going there to steal you or to steal fuel in some of them we're going there to rescue people so there are some people who are desperately going to still oil some people are going there to save people. and that complicates things because some are calling for some of the 5 is to be prosecuted for this what can you tell us about that debate about prosecuting so those people who are stealing the fuel and who have been injured as a result. you know because here you have some people who are still alive but they participated in stealing for you but then again there are some people who are supposed to take charge you have because what we hear from the media is that the whole situation was almost lasted for almost 2 hours so there were some police in this area for departments who would have reacted fast because i mean people there should be some ways to sions to stop people from even getting close to the truck so this other people probably were of 3 prosecutor don't also the prime minister has already established a committee for investigating what has happened so that some people can be prosecuted on the issue ok harrison thank you thank you very much. in
