The Missouri Senate picked up Wednesday afternoon largely where it left off when it adjourned in May, with a group of Republicans holding court for more than an hour to vent frustrations with the chamber’s leadership.

Missouri lawmakers laid out several priorities upon returning to the Capitol Wednesday.

Controversies and Republican rifts in the state Senate and House could make it difficult for legislative leaders to get much done this year.

Missouri lawmakers return to Jefferson City this afternoon for the start of the 2024 legislative session, and expectations arent high.

In Missouri, products such as diapers, feminine hygiene products and adult incontinence products are taxed as a luxury.

Both the Senate and House face challenges that threaten to inject chaos into the 2024 legislative session.

2024 is an election year, and all eyes are on the race for President of the United States. There are, however, other races in state and local jurisdictions.

“When it comes to China and other foreign adversaries, we must take commonsense precautions that protect Missourians and our security resources,” Parson said.

“This order safeguards our military and intelligence assets, prevents security threats to our state and gives Missourians greater peace of mind,” Parson said during a news conference in Jefferson City.
