NEW DELHI: Bird flu cases have been reported in several states across India severely impacting winged populations
Union animal husbandry and dairying minister Giriraj Singh on Monday urged people to not pay heed to rumours about bird flu.
He said there is no risk to humans if the animal or poultry products are cooked properly before consuming.
Cases of bird flu have been confirmed by Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi in the county.
The ministry on Sunday said that the central teams formed for monitoring the spread of bird flu are visiting the affected sites.

The outbreak of bird flu in India and its spread to nine states within a month of the first cases being reported has rung the alarm bells at a time the country is still trying to tame the novel coronavirus.

New Delhi: A bird-flu outbreak has been confirmed in nine of India’s states, even as new bird deaths have been reported from various parts of the country in the last day.
The outbreak has been confirmed in Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
A drive to cull ducks has begun at the famous Sanjay Lake, where several ducks were found dead in the last few days, Singh added.
Seventeen more ducks were found dead at Sanjay Lake on Sunday, prompting authorities to declare it an alert zone , DDA officials had said.
Besides, the officials said, 91 crows have been found dead in 14 DDA parks in the last couple of days.
A few days ago, around 50 crows were found dead in Central Park, Mayur Vihar Phase 3, officials had said.
Some samples were also sent to a lab in Jalandhar. Their results are awaited, Singh said.
