COVID vaccine in communities of color urged by Gov Murphy s wife

ASBURY PARK - Tammy Murphy, wife of Gov. Phil Murphy, toured a vaccination clinic here Tuesday that has been on the front line of Asbury Park s battle against COVID-19, particularly in the quest to get the vaccine to communities of color. The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, which operates the clinic at the Asbury Park Senior Center on Springwood Avenue, in the predominately Black west side of the city, has administered some 25,000 shots so far in Asbury Park. Across Monmouth County, they ve distributed 77,000 vaccines. It has no plans to stop anytime soon, even as some vaccine sites have curtailed vaccine distributions in the face of diminished demand. The effort continued apace Tuesday, as people continued to come through the doors, seeking protection against a virus that has killed more than 23,000 people in New Jersey.

Parents may learn when their child is in trouble after-all

Senator Michael Doherty (R) and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick (R)are among those at the Jersey Shore and beyond voicing concern and opposition to the Marijuana reform law which cuts off communication between police and parents on a juveniles first offense and criminalizes police officers. Last week, Assemblyman Bramnick  “Handcuffing law enforcement from notifying parents if they find a child using drugs or alcohol is irresponsible and dangerous,” Bramnick (R-Union) said in a statement. “Parents should know if their children break the law. Leaving parents out of the equation has nothing to do with social justice.” Now, Monmouth County Senator Vin Gopal (D), Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D) and Assemblywoman Joann Downey (D) in the 11th District are working alongside Senator Dawn Addiego (D-Burlington) and Senator Joe Lagana (D-Bergen) to introduce legislation with a goal of amending P.L.2021, c.25 and require parental notification upon the first violation of underage posse
