Steroids Contraindicated for Mild COVID-19 Patients

Steroids Contraindicated for Mild COVID-19 Patients by Angela Mohan on  May 25, 2021 at 11:55 AM High blood sugar, steroid usage and being COVID-19 positive could increase the risk of getting mucormycosis. So, diabetic patients should regularly monitor and control their blood sugar levels. Mucormycosis or black fungus infection is not a new disease and it was reported even before the pandemic. Its incidence, however, was very low. Now, owing to Covid-19, this rare but fatal fungal infection is being reported in large numbers. The Coronavirus Disease Associated Mucormycosis (CAM) is being seen in patients who are either recovering or have recovered from Covid-19.

Restrict COVID-19 Virus Airborne Spread

by Dr Jayashree on  May 20, 2021 at 12:38 AM COVID-19 virus transmission is mainly thorough aerosols, which are tiny particles of water or other matter that can remain suspended in air for long periods of time and are small enough to penetrate the respiratory system. A study led by engineers at UC Riverside and The George Washington University, comparing the effectiveness of surgical and cotton masks, a neck gaiter, and nanofiber membranes in removing coronavirus aerosols discovers that nanofiber filter removes almost all of the coronavirus aerosols published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology Letters. Our work is the first study to use coronavirus aerosols for evaluating filtration efficiency of face masks and air filters, said corresponding author Yun Shen, a UC Riverside assistant professor of chemical and environmental engineering.

Feelings of isolation, exhaustion, worry, inadequacy, guilt, and increased stress were described by the women. Many reported their lost opportunities and for their baby, and were worried about the developmental impact of social isolation on their new little one.
