Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre recently took home two first place awards in the third annual Pennsylvania Farm Show Beer Competition, the state Department of Agriculture announced Friday.
The breweryâs Lionshead Pilsner won first place in the light lagers and ales contest. In that competition, the Old Mauch Chunk Lager by the Conyngham Brewing Company in Conyngham Borough placed third.
Lion Breweryâs Lionshead Double IPA won first place in the India pale ale category, 7.5% alcohol by volume and above.
Conyngham Brewing Company won the kettle sour category with Blackberry Rosemary Sour Ale.
The competition featured 22 craft breweries in Pennsylvania that sent beers to the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. Judging occurred in November in private.
