While prices have stabilized in some sectors, personal savings have dwindled, delinquency rates on loans are rising, and interest rates on credit cards and auto loans are at their highest level in decades. Rural areas are also facing challenges such as an aging population, older housing stock, education stresses, and uneven access to health care.
