WEST BLOOMFIELD The Michigan Department of Natural Resources recently sent out a warning to residents about harmful algal blooms, also known as HABs, that can form on lakes, rivers and ponds. HABs form due to rapid growth of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae.
