Historic Falls County church desperately needs new roof

FALLS COUNTY â On a slice of Texas prairie in rural Falls County, Blue Ridge Baptist Church stands tall and proud.
It should.
But now it needs something new, and it needs it quickly.
âThe roof has been a problem for several years. Weâre a small church community, modest in the way in which we try to spend money, weâre thrifty, but itâs just the case itâs now time,â said Pastor Darin Davis.
The current roof was installed about 40 years ago, and decades of Texas weather have taken an enormous toll. Davis showed 25 News heavy water damage from leaks and interior flooding.

North Carolinaâs 1,120-mile-long Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) corridor stretches from the top of 6,643-foot Clingmanâs Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Jockeyâs Ridge on the coast.
About 700 miles of the trail are complete, including a 44-mile section from the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and U.S. 421 at Deep Gap in Watauga County to the Parkwayâs Devilâs Garden Overlook on the Wilkes-Alleghany county line.
This 44-mile section mostly weaves in and out of Wilkes County where it borders Ashe and Alleghany counties. Itâs never very far from and often crosses the Parkway, yet allows something approaching a feeling of wildness due to the surprisingly wide Parkway corridor.
