Meridian teams up with Belgian offshore wind developer.

The developer is looking at the feasibility of offshore wind power generation in NZ.

A RENEWABLE energy company has unveiled its Wind Mill Power Generation (WMPG) project in the coastal town of Claveria in Cagayan province which will benefit the provincial and municipal governments and communities in the province.

The lack of power infrastructure, demand for low-carbon energy, and increasing government investments in the energy industry are set to drive the floating power plant market growth in the evaluation period.

“The South Australian Government is committed to renewable energy projects that can improve our state’s energy security, but we cannot support ones that have the potential to cause significant harm to local industries and the environment. This is particularly the case when they have no net benefit to South Australians,” said Susan Close, the state’s environment minister in her submission to the ongoing consultation process.

The Commonwealth Government has opened consultation on the Illawarra Offshore Wind Zone – the fourth of its kind in Australia – with the consultation period open until 16 October 2023.
