LIBERIA: CPP Gongloe-Weh Files Bill of Exceptions To BOC, Wants Judgment Review LIBERIA: CPP Gongloe-Weh Files Bill of Exceptions To BOC, Wants Judgment Review The Collaborating Political Parties or CPP’s senatorial candidate Edith Gongloe-Weh has filed a bill of exceptions to the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission Wednesday, 24 February in Monrovia. Counselor Boakai P. Harris hired by NEC’s as fact-finder ruled that the complainant did not provide evidence to her allegations of “Frauds and irregularities” complaint against the Commission. Therefore, Monday, 22 February, NEC denied and dismissed Complainant’s complaint and reaffirmed candidate Jeremiah Kpan Koung of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction as winner of the Tuesday, 8 December, 2020 senatorial election in Nimba County.

Liberia: Edith Gongloe-Weh Wants Recount, Re-Run of Nimba County Senatorial Election Liberia: Edith Gongloe-Weh Wants Recount, Re-Run of Nimba County Senatorial Election Share MONROVIA – Lawyers representing the legal interest of the Collaborating Political Parties or CPP’s senatorial candidate, Edith Gongloe-Weh, are calling for recount of ballots for Electoral Districts #7, 4 and 5, and rerun election in Electoral Districts #1, and #2, in Nimba County. But the defense counsel led by Counselors Arthur Johnson and Cooper Kruah, asked the hearing officer or fact-finder to deny the complainant’s legal memorandum on ground that they did not adduced any “materiality and particularity” evidence as they claimed of alleged frauds and irregularities.

Nimba Senatorial Rift May End at Supreme Court

NEC reported that Rep. Koung (right) won Nimba County senate race with 37,899, which represents 36.12 percent of the votes, while his closest rival, Edith Gongloe-Weh (left), candidate of the ticket CPP obtained 34,153, which amounts to 32.55 percent of all valid votes counted. However, Gongloe-Weh has challenged the results and is demanding a re-run. The possibility of the Supreme Court to hear and determine the merit of the elections dispute between Nimba senatorial candidates Edith Gongloe Weh and Jeremiah Kpan Koung, from the just-ended December 8 Special Senatorial election is now becoming  a reality. This stems from a Bill of Information filed on Monday December 28 before the Hearing officer of the National Election Commission (NEC), Cllr, Boakai P. Harris, by lawyers representing Senatorial candidate Edith Gongloe Weh of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).
