WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Following a decision by the New Hanover County Board of Education April 13 to rename the football stadium at Laney High School, board members are seeking community input.
The board voted unanimously to remove Dr. Rick Holliday’s name from the stadium. Holliday, a former principal at Laney who retired as the school system’s deputy superintendent in 2019, allegedly failed to act on information about potential wrongdoing by a teacher accused of sex crimes against students.
