shoreline park near the water of san leandro bay. don knapp has the latest. reporter: we are just to the northeast of oakland old field. you can see the airplane where it nosed in on the tip of land that juts out into shoreline park in san leandro bay. we have a closer look. let s look at video. police officers and investigators continue to look at the wreckage, just a little bit ago, of this airplane that crashed right into hard ground, across san leandro bay across from bay farm island. the plane is a singl engine, with u.s. air force markings. the plane is an older, retired airplane. the pilot killed in the crash was the only person on board. some witnesses who were on a golf course said they thought the plane was having engine trouble. they spoke with alameda police lieutenant joe mcneil. we have witnesses in the area that saw the plane in the air shortly before it went down and they heard what sounded like the plane in distress, in terms of the engine. reporter: th
