Because of worries of a global slow down. It did trigger the powerful move up today. Dow soared 275 points. S p shot up 1. 75 . Nasdaq rocketed 1. 9 because it contradicts the prevailing wisdom that the fed is on auto pilot to take rates higher no matter what. The rally was all encompassing. Here is the problem of putting too much stock in one days rally so to speak. If you are bullish it is terrific to note the fed isnt going to do something stupid. Hedgefund managers come on tv or call for much higher rates to teach a lesson. It is fantastic that our central bankers dont have the same desires of much more strident hedgefund managers who want to trigger a nasty recession who create a havoc in order to make a lot of money. However, the problems that many of our companies are facing are simply beyond the purview of the fed which makes you upon further review by the overseas markets skeptical of staying power. Little more negative. I really do. Think about it. Weve run so far, so fast, so much right now. And yet we dont have any new data points of consequence. Were simply paying more and more for the same exact insights. But it doesnt seem to matter, as we strike towards another set of new highs. Dow gaining 40 points. S p advancing 0. 51 . Nasdaq climbing 0. 671 . Not trying to be a naysayer, but pessimism has back the enemy of profits. Negativity isnt being rewarded at all, except in a narrow handful of situations like the funk in social media, the endless pain in autos, or the relentless decline in the mineral stocks and offshore oil drillers. Frankly, its downright amazing how giddy this market can be. And in doing so, its punishing even what i regard as healthy skepticism. Outbreaks. It does come at a bad psychological time for the stock market where confidence is going lower and theres a host of other issues including the spread of the ebola virus. Have the economies of the worlds peaked. It means its as far as you can go. It suggests its all downhill from here. Thats how i feel today. Dow dropped 28 points. Nasdaq dropped. So much seems to have gone wrong and is how off kilter. Theres a handful of stocks going along their merry way. The end of the quarter is a great way to assess peaks or we truly have no place to go but down. He was accused of mutilating a goat and pony and three other animals with a knife. Some breaking news, authorities are asking for the publics help to find a kidnapped teenager. An amber alert was issued for 14yearold sergio vazquez. Investigators say he was abducted by two men in a white van in san andreas in east stockton. He is 510 tall, weighs about 170 pounds.
