The PLNU Honors Program will host Examining the Great American Songbook, featuring jazz trumpet player and educator Dr. John Reynolds, for a night of jazz and cultural reflection. The event will feature live music from the John Reynolds Jazz Quintet with selections from the Great American Songbook and will also include a presentation from Dr. Karl Martin on the social and cultural implications of the music included in the songbook. "The 'Great American Songbook' is the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century that have stood the test of time in their life and legacy.
