going to take. for all of comey s testimony, bob mueller already has the memos themselves. is there any guess at a timeline on this? i have no guess at all. when is the last time you saw bob mueller make a public statement? he just hasn t done anything. we expect that to be the case moving forward. don t expect it to happen very fast, that s for sure. thing about this, too, no one wants to jump to conclusions about the fact he s been appointed as special prosecutor. he s got to do the job, let the facts leaped where they may. it may lead to a place where bob mueller doesn t do anything, and i think everybody has to understand that as well, just the fact that he has been assigned and tasked to this doesn t mean that something of substance may arise. yamiche and mike, i ll ask both of you that. do you agree with that? i definitely agree with that. i think what s very remarkable is what we learned on thursday, james comey wanted his memo to
his investigation, which he has to do, which the american people want. so you have a lot of tension going on here. the media, of course, loves leaks. but bob mueller doesn t. and this case, this investigation, has to be done thoroughly thoroughly, and he has the ability to talk to the director of the fbi, the former director comey. he has the ability to sit down with sessions and say, this happened. there s a whole unit at fbi headquarters that looks at matters that were not listed in that lengthy paper that was leaked. so, there s side to this. and mr. mueller needs to be able to really go about this in a matter that all of us that know him have seen in the last few years. he s quiet, methodical and

but you could see this could be a wild goose chase, and i think you re seeing the political gymnastics of republicans who for months have said they don t think there should be a special prosecutor. and now they are going to have to back this. i think mueller is going to be a good choice from their perspective but certainly it s going to be something that were going to be covering for the next several months if not years. bret: this is dianne feinstein, democrats in california releasing a statement. the appointment of bob mueller a special counsel for the russian investigation is a good first step to get to the bottom of the many questions we have about russian interference in our election and possible ties to the president. bob was a fine u.s. attorney, great fbi director, there s no better person who could be asked to perform this function. he s respected, talented, and he has the knowledge and ability to do the right thing. sounds like democrats are saying this works for them.
