REGIONAL WEATHER DISCUSSION

Mar 17, 2021 4:50 AM (OLNEY/NEWTON) Two rounds of rain are expected to hit our downstate area over the next 36 hours with some heavy amounts of rainfall possible along with maybe some severe weather conditions. As the strong low pressure storm system moves up towards the Ohio River Valley, our first chance of widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms will move through this afternoon. Then after a brief dry period, the second wave of scattered rain and maybe thunderstorms will roll through tonight and tomorrow morning. Thursday will be a rather raw day with an overcast sky, lingering rain, and temperatures falling back into the low to mid 40’s. We then dry out Friday with sunshine and warmer air returning for Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned for updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather information and forecast details.

Newton, IL, USA / WIKK 103.5 FM The Eagle | Classic Rock Mar 17, 2021 7:58 AM (SPRINGFIELD) Congratulations to an area student who last week finished strong during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Collegiate Discussion Meet. It was over the course of three days that Taylor Hartke of Teutopolis discussed topics impacting agriculture, such as big data and international trade, plus her third and final round discussion on broadband infrastructure. Although the junior at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agribusiness economics, did not advance to the final four competitors, the Effingham County native did finish among to top sixteen.
