Construction underway on New Paltz firehouse, emergency operations center

By Mid Hudson News -www.midhudsonnews.com Jan 20, 2021 Front of fire engine in motion NEW PALTZ – Construction on a new firehouse and emergency operations center is underway at 117 Henry W. DuBois Drive in New Paltz. The $6.6 million facility will replace the two-bay firehouse built in 1985 to serve the all-volunteer department. Some $5 million of the cost of the project is coming from the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery with the remainder being funded from the Village and Town of New Paltz. The new 15,508-square foot, five double-bay facility will also include an adjacent office, meeting space and training mezzanine. “Climate change is making storms more violent, their aftermaths more profound,” said Assemblyman Kevin Cahill (D, Kingston). Securing resiliency has become a greeter challenge as a result. This new, state of the art facility will help our emergency responders deploy rapidly, pervasively and appropriately.”
