To say there is excitement about the Dean Smith hire for Charlotte FC might be a bit of understatement. Of course there is the obvious connections to the state with him sharing the same name as one of the greatest college basketball coaches

Each week, it feels like there is no way that it can possibly get any worse for the Panthers and yet it seems to even on off days that things seem to become even more depressing. Sunday may have been a new low for the team as they dropped to 1-12 with their lowest offensive output of the season in a 28-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The firing of Frank Reich last Monday made it clear that the Carolina Panthers are not a well-run organization right now. It appears that was just the culmination of a poor culture under Reich's direction that doomed him from the start.

Normally, a Monday after a Panther loss is filled with vitriol towards the team, especially so far in 2023. However, this Monday was a unique one, as the displeasure of many football in this area of the country is towards the College Football Playoff Committee and their final four that was released on Sunday afternoon.

Following the firing of Frank Reich the day before, Panthers owner David Tepper spoke with the media on Wednesday to discuss the move. In a fourteen minute presser, Tepper answered just eight questions before walking off, leaving a room full of reporter baffled and heated. The fifth year owner spent the majority of the presser pointing to the success that the ownership group has had in just about every other area besides the football.

The Panthers lost their sixth straight game on Sunday at the hand of the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Bryce Young had another rough performance, throwing for the fewest amount of yards (123) that he has so far this season. A big part of that was the pressure that he was under the entire day. The Cowboys sacked Young seven teams and registered 27 total pressures on the rookie quarterback in what was another embarrassing day for the Panthers offensive line.
