After the results came in Tuesday night, the votes were split at 94 apiece for each candidate, Daniel Arevalo (R) and Natalie Mulhall (R). The Boone County Clerk s Office said Tuesday night they had two outstanding ballots. Well, those ballots were counted and the result? One vote for each candidate, meaning they re tied at 95 votes apiece now. So how will the winner be determined? A true 50-50 shot: a coin flip. By Illinois statute, the race must be decided by lot. The coin toss to determine the winner of the Alderman Race for Ward 2 in Belvidere will be held in the County Board room of the Boone County Administration Building at 3:30pm Friday, February 26, 2021.
