Eleven Vietnamese citizens were arrested for trying to sneak through the Vietnam-China border after working as seasonal workers in the neighboring country, border defense forces said this week.
The border crossing attempt was detected by border guards at the Xin Cai Border Post in northern Ha Giang Province on Tuesday.
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Duc Duong spotted the group of eleven crossing beaten paths to enter Vietnam during his sentry duty.
“They admitted that [people on] a vehicle dropped them off at the path and told them the way back to Vietnam,” Duong said.

HCM City approved for one more place for New Year firework display
HCM City has been allowed to organise firework displays at one more location on New Year’s Eve.
The additional location is Saigon Hi-tech Park in District 9, which is aimed to mark the establishment of Thu Duc City. The city, which is the merger of districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc, will officially come into existence on March 1.
The low-range fireworks will be held at the park.
HCM City was earlier permitted to organise high-range firework displays at the entrance of Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2 and at the 81-floor Landmark 81, Vietnam s tallest building on New Year’s Eve.

– The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education has presented certificates of merit to 30 collectives, including the World News Department of the Vietnam News Agency, and 16 individuals for their outstanding performance in the external information service and communications about seas, islands, and land border.

Hanoi (VNA) – The number of services provided via the National Public Service Portal has reached 2,700 after four new ones made debut on December 30, expected to help save 8 trillion VND (346.9 million USD) each year.
The new services consist of the ones for households and individuals to fulfil financial obligations in implementing land-related administrative procedures; providing construction planning information; granting private housing construction licences; and declaring and paying registration fees, granting number plates for imported cars.
