Manitoba-based truck drivers can be vaccinated, starting tomorrow, by North Dakota. We are building hope together, Pallister says. It is a good news story. Pallister is hoping 2,000 to 4,000 people will be vaccinated in this partnership. These vaccines will be free at the Alexander Henry Rest Area, open from noon to 8 p.m. between Wednesday to Friday for those 16-years-old or older. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be used.

By Pat Sweeney Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister calls it a “continental first.” North Dakota will administer free COVID-19 vaccines to Manitoba-based truck drivers transporting goods to and from the U-S. It’s called the “Essential Worker Cross-Border Vaccination Initiative.” Manitoba will make vaccination appointments in North Dakota for an estimated two- to- four-thousand truck drivers over the next six to eight weeks. Burgum said Canada is dealing with a vaccine shortage…adding that the program should not harm North Dakota’s vaccination efforts. “In the weeks ahead of us, I think we’re going to see excess (vaccine) supply building on the U.S. side, so this is the time to move to start working closely with our neighbors,” Burgum said.
