THE Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional (GRS-BN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) State Governments have formed a consensus, through the Borneo Bloc concept, to support a government to be formed at the Federal level that can deliver political stability and benefits to both states.
This is possible after both GRS-BN and GPS emerged victorious in the 15th General Elections in their respective states. Together, they would deliver 36 seats to the eventual overall winner at the federal level. GRS-BN won 13 of the 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah, while GPS won 23 out of the 38 parliamentary seats in Sarawak
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR is open towards the formation of a unity government as the best solution for the nation to move forward, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has not completely shunned the idea of collaborating with GPS and GRS under the Borneo Bloc to safeguard the interests of Sabahans and bring political stability to the country.
He said the party would work with the coalition that prioritises Sabah. Sarawak’s Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Sabah’s Gabungan Rakyat Sabah had, following the election results that resulted in a deadlock in forming a new simple majority federal government, assured that any decision that both states would make under the Borneo Bloc concept would be consistent with protecting the interests of both Borneo states
