The Boulder Valley school board took a closer look at its choice schools at a study session this week as it grapples with overall declining enrollment and a need to better balance enrollment among schools.

Boulder's Max Logan, 17, and Noah Shapiro, 19, got their start fly fishing in Boulder Creek while in elementary school, then kept going with the sport to become competitive teen anglers.

Every school in Boulder Valley and all but one in St. Vrain Valley earned the top two state performance ratings, based on preliminary accountability ratings released this week by the Colorado Department of Education.
