 The city was awarded $1,964,293 in federal and state funding for road surfacing.  Dan Brisson, Public Works director, said the total project is estimated to cost $2,507,600 with the city’s participation cost estimated at $543,307. Engineering for the project is covered by the MDOT agreement and the city will have to pay 100 percent of engineering costs.  The portion of Silver Lake Road westward from Poplar Street to be rehabilitated is 1.53 miles long. The project consists of asphalt milling and resurfacing, concrete curb, gutter and ramp repair, guardrail ends, pedestrian signals, signing and pavement markings.  Brisson recommended city council approve the resolution and to authorize the city manager to sign the MDOT contract and approve the city’s portion of the costs.
