Attorney general eric holder has announced that the new Justice Department initiative aimed at Building Trust between local Law Enforcement and the civilians they serve by providing training. He said the effort is a response to what happened after the Police Shooting in ferguson misery last month. The attorney general discussed the new initiative at the Justice Department last week. I am delighted to convene this meeting of the sentencing Disparities Working Group attorney generals advisory committee. This is the group im charged with examining sentencing disparities and developing recommendations on how we can address them. I want to thank all the leaders who have taken the time to be here particularly the United States attorney Carter Stewart and all they been doing to advance the work that i believe to be extremely critical. There is a Clear Strategy and plan in relation to that. Personally, i think that a lot more work needs to be done on what exactly the route map is in syria. Those are the particular issues that i raise in relation to syria. I want to make some progress with my argument, if the house will allow me. Isil is not simply a murderous organisation. As the Prime Minister said, it has ambitions for a state of its own a caliphate across the middle east, run according to its horrific norms. And values. That is why i believe, and established in the first part of my remarks, that we cannot simply stand by against the threat of isil. In acting against it we need to learn the lessons from the past. We should be clear about this with the british people. That means a comprehensive strategy humanitarian and political, as well as military, and, crucially, rooted in the region.
