BP Chief Executive Bernard Looney has resigned due to what the company said were insufficient disclosures of past personal relationships with colleagues.

Bernard Looney has run the British oil and gas company since 2020.

Mr. Looney, a longtime BP employee who was named chief executive in 2020, agreed to step down immediately, the board said.
