The Karnataka government has described as "wholly misconceived" Tamil Nadu's plea seeking a direction from the top court that it be asked to release 24,000 cusecs of Cauvery water daily for standing crops.
Some of these officials and veterinarians are actively involved in implementation of Project Cheetah in India, it added.It is noteworthy to mention that cheetah went extinct from India in year 1947-48 and because of the absence of species from the country none of the officials including the members of the expert committee contrary to their claim of being an expert in Cheetah appointed by this court had management experience in Cheetah in India, the Centre said in its affidavit.
“It is disheartening to note that insofar as the Union of India is concerned, out of seven investigating agencies no steps of sincere nature have been taken in case of four investigating agencies,” a bench observed, saying the steps should be taken for transparency and safeguarding human rights.
The top court said that in cases revolving around circumstantial evidence, the prosecution must prove the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt – which was not done in the instant case.
A bench, headed by Justice B.R. Gavai said even if they are accused, still they have a locus, and if these people would not have locus, then who else would?
