Josh Cooper, 35, of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was a 2004 graduate of Bradley Central High School. In high school, he was a member of the wrestling team and also played football. After high school, he went to Western State University, in Gunnison, Colorado, where he wrestled as well. He moved to Alaska and became a river raft guide. He attended Mount Olive Church of God. He is survived by his parents, Danny and Debra Cooper; his daughter, Avery Shadle; his grandmothers: Virginia Shelton and Elizabeth Cooper; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Remembrance of Life service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Street Chapel, with Pastor Gary Sears officiating.

Nine area seniors representing Bradley Central, Cleveland and Walker Valley high schools graduated from the 19th Youth Leadership class of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce in a ceremony at Peerless Road Church. “This is an outstanding group of young men and women that I am confident will be successful in the future, and are the promising future leaders of our community, our state and our country,” Sherry Crye, Youth Leadership coordinator and recently retired director of workforce development for the chamber, said during the graduation ceremony. “Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude and a desire to make a difference.”

Smith, Jenny Kate Friday, March 12, 2021 Jenny Smith Jenny Kate Smith, 79, of Chattanooga, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 11, 2021 She was preceded in death by her parents; Millard B. Chase and Eloise Fitzgerald; and also her brother, Burke Chase. Jenny is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry D. Smith; her children, Denise (Greg) Evans and Victor (Sue) Smith; and her grandchildren, Aubrey Smith, Garrett Smith, Riley Evans, and Shelby Evans. Jenny was born in Cleveland, Tn., and graduated from Bradley Central High School. She studied and graduated from Erlanger Nursing School as a registered nurse. Jenny worked at Erlanger and was a much beloved nurse at Tyner Junior High School. She became the Assistant Nursing Director at Life Care of Collegedale and Hamilton County Nursing Home. Jenny worked, until her retirement, as Director of Nursing at NHC Rossville.
