Manitoba recorded its lowest number of new cases in a week, but test positivity rates across the province grew again on Tuesday.
There were 335 new cases reported by public health, the lowest since May 11, but the provincial test positivity rate increased to 13%, up from 12.7%, the highest it’s been since mid-December of last year.

The province conducted 2,893 tests on Monday, the lowest total since May 5. There have been 728,129 tests completed since February 2020.

As of Sunday, Manitoba had the highest rate of COVID-19 infections per capita in Canada, surpassing Alberta, with 232 cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 12.7 per cent provincially and 14.3 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on May 17, 2021, 430 new cases of the virus have been identified. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 45,579.

Winnipeg continues to see the highest number of new cases in the province.
A male in his 60s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud region is the latest COVID-19 death, bringing the total to 1,011 deaths.
