Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson doesn't support the banning of LGBTQ content from school libraries, but it doesn't mean her government will meddle in the affairs of a school board considering such a proposal.
Manitoba CUPE members had a rally against banning books in Brandon School Division Wednesday. The march was in response to a delegation that called for the removal of LGBTQ, sexual education and other books at a board of trustees meeting on May 18.
Lorraine Hackenschmidt wants a committee to examine books she calls "harmful" for children. Her stance is staunchly opposed by experts in education, libraries and LGBTQ2 supports.
