They’ve got a lot of names: Lunar rainbows. Moonbows. Spraybows. Space rainbows. Lunar Spraybows.
Whatever you’d like to call the moonlight reflecting off waterfall droplets, the photographs of these things beneath starry skies are absolutely incredible. And, Yosemite National Park is one of the best places in the world to behold a moonbow.
Even better news: the moonbow viewing season is upon us. Clear spring evenings with a full moon overhead offer the best chance to catch a glimpse or snap a photo, as well as specific conditions that have been allowing humans to observe moonbows for centuries.
