Belgrade’s Center Ice Cafe, 11 N. Broadway, finally reopened last week — a long 14 months after it suffered a significant kitchen fire on Oct. 3, 2021.
Belgrade’s Center Ice Cafe suffered a kitchen fire Sunday just before noon, and the restaurant will be closed for a few months until it can be repaired, the owner told
“This restaurant is my bread and butter,” Gilbert says. “This is how I support my son and if anybody knows, I recently lost my husband five months ago to cancer. This is how I take care of my son.”

Brant Gilbert, 49, died April 22 after a six-year fight with cancer.
Most Belgrade-ites probably knew him as âRhondaâs husband,â as the two of them ran the Center Ice Cafe in town for almost six years.
Brant was born in Miles City, the descendant of a couple generations of eastern Montana folk who landed between there and Wolf Point.
He met his wife Rhonda through her brother Larry, and they took 13 years to get around to getting married. This marriage would last 14 years, until cancer decided to interrupt the partnership.
The two of them also owned Bubbyâs Burger Barn across from Cenex on Jackrabbit.
