The latest album by revered worship artist Matt Redman sees the Watford-born songsmith bring in a number of guest artists to help communicate his love for God with cameos from the likes of Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Kierra Sheard, Kim Walker-Smith and even a 120-strong choir peppering proceedings. Whilst these appearances (including a rapped section courtesy of Guvna B on the strangely non-gospel sounding Gospel Song ) help add some variety, this is default Redman fare with mostly mid-tempo songs charting the personal side of having a relationship with God - delivered in trademark half whispered/half sung fashion - dominating the release. A gospel choir adorns the opener All Glory and things get things off to a relatively stirring start before the likes of Greatest Hallelujah and Redemption Ground sees Redman back in more familiar territory. Billboard Music has named the Grammy-winning singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard as the Top Gospel Artist of the Decade.
This is also the third consecutive year that Billboard has named Cobbs the Top Female Gospel Artist. It’s such an honor to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world! Cobbs posted to her Instagram recently.
She has been spreading her singing talents all over recently during the holiday season with two events. The first was on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network when she sang her version of The Christmas Song with the artist Neyo. The second holiday event was Dolly Parton & Friends Christmas special when Cobbs sang O Holy Night . That special aired on December 4 with the audio version available after December 11.
