A Battle Creek candlemaker got her start making gifts for far-flung relatives during the pandemic lockdown. Now shes launched Cereal City Candle Company and one of her most popular candles honors a certain locally-made fruity breakfast cereal.

Crafts, food and holiday music were in abundance in downtown Battle Creek this weekend during the citys first Winter Wanderland event.

Horse-drawn carriage rides, a holiday tree forest, an indoor snowball fight and multiple vendor markets are just a few of the things planned downtown.

At least 20 locally-owned Battle Creek area eateries are participating in the inaugural event, which will end with a farmers market on Friday.
