The Breathitt Lectureship gives an undergraduate the opportunity to present on a humanities topic of great interest to them. The winner also is a recipient of a cash prize.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 4, 2021) University of Kentucky undergraduates may apply now for the Gaines Center for the Humanities prestigious 2021 Edward T. Breathitt Undergraduate Lectureship in the Humanities. While applications are welcome from students in any college or major, the lecture must have a strong humanities focus. Any UK faculty member may also nominate a qualified student.
The Breathitt Lectureship was established to honor an eminent Kentuckian and outstanding alumnus, former Gov. Edward T. Breathitt, whose interest in higher education and humanities was exceptional. This lectureship is awarded to an undergraduate whose qualities of mind and spirit have been expressed eloquently on one or more of the basic concerns of the humanities.
