A quartet of Clemson University men’s basketball student-athletes, Hunter Tyson (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont), RJ Godfrey (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett), Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) and Brevin Galloway (Anderson, S.C./Seneca) earned All-ACC Academic Team recognition for their performance on the court and in the classroom this season, announced today by Commissioner Jim Phillips.Tyson was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team for the fourth time in his career. Prior to the ACC Tournament, Tyson was named the 2023 recipient of the Skip Prosser Award, presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in ACC men’s basketball.Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson University men’s basketball earned an at-large bid as a No. 1 seed into the 2023 National Invitation Tournament and will face Morehead State in Littlejohn Coliseum for the first round. The game will be played on Wednesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. and air on ESPN+. This will be Clemson’s 18th appearance in the NIT and the Tigers hold a 19-17 overall record in the event. Clemson has made the NIT Final Four three times, including the championship game twice. General admission tickets are $15 and Clemson students get in for FREE with a valid ID. Clemson forward Hunter Tyson (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont) has been named to the All-ACC First Team, while junior center PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) was named to the Third Team, announced by ACCN’s ACC PM this evening. This marks Tyson’s first career All-ACC honor. Tyson is having a career year this season. He is averaging a team-best 15.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor, 41.3 percent from three and 83.8 percent at the free throw line. In league play, he’s been even better. He averaged 16.4 points and 9.9 rebounds while shooting 50.5 percent and 84.3 percent at the charity stripe. He recently was named the 2023 ACC Skip Prosser Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his work on the court and in the classroom. Final Stats CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University men’s basketball cruised to an 87-64 win on Saturday night behind Hunter Tyson’s (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont) 15th double-double of the season. It tied him for eighth in program history with Sharone Wright (1992-93). The Tigers (22-9,14-6 ACC) connected on a barrage of 3-point baskets to open the contest. Clemson shot 56.7 percent in the first half and knocked down 53.3 percent of their threes. The Tigers went into the break holding a 48-29 advantage over the Fighting Irish (11-20, 3-17 ACC).
