Two concussion drug companies backed by Brett Favre and enmeshed in a massive welfare fraud case overstated their NFL connections and exaggerated the known effectiveness of their drugs during efforts to raise money, according to interviews and documents.
Brett Favre was involved with firms that misrepresented their drug s efficacy. Both Prevacus and PresonMD said they had drugs the could prevent brain damage without evidence.
The companies’ founder, Jake VanLandingham, claimed he was unaware that the $2.1 million he received was earmarked as welfare money by the state of Mississippi.
Favre reportedly helped the drug companies get funding from the pool of misappropriated grant money that was supposed to be used to help Mississippi welfare families.
