Ellington to Return From Scunthorpe
Monday, 7th Jan 2013 17:22
Scunthorpe United will not be extending Nathan Ellington’s loan having signed free agent Akpo Sodje until the end of the season.
Manager Brian Laws said: Now that we have Akpo in there we have no finances to maintain Nathan Ellington being here.
“He has been hit and miss and it has been a bit of a stop-start scenario. We cannot afford to carry on like that.”
Ellington’s spell was up after Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Shrewsbury, which was only the 31-year-old s second start since he moved to the League One club in November, a calf problem having hampered his time in Lincolnshire.

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws is set to decide whether to extend Nathan Ellington’s loan at Glanford Park in the next 48 hours. The 31-year-old’s spell with the Iron was up after Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Shrewsbury.
Laws said: I said to him that we needed a performance from him. Nathan s been hit and miss really, to be honest. We needed a performance for us to see whether we continue with the loan or not. That s something we ll talk about over the next few days, depending as well on what our thoughts are about recruitment in the next week or so.
There’s clearly been a huge breakdown – Brian Laws on shock Tony Pulis sacking

A clash of personalities could be behind Tony Pulis’ shock departure from Sheffield Wednesday, according to former Hillsborough boss Brian Laws.
Pulis was sacked on Monday night only 45 days after replacing Garry Monk, having won one of his 10 games in charge.
Laws, who left the Owls by mutual consent in 2009 after three years as manager, said there appeared to have been a breakdown in the relationship between Pulis and club owner Dejphon Chansiri.
