Destiny Calls Hanowski For Flyers Hall Of Fame

A former St. Cloud State Men's Hockey great has received the nod for the Hall of Fame. Ben Hanowski is being inducted into the Little Falls High School HOF Friday.

Osakis School Board members take moment of silence for teacher Kyle Imdieke

School has been canceled Thursday, May 13, so that students, staff can attend the funeral. 8:47 pm, May 10, 2021 × A moment of silence was taken at the start of the Osakis School Board meeting Monday, May 10, for Kyle Imdieke. Imdieke, who passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 6, was a special education teacher in the district, as well as an assistant basketball and football coach. He was also an alumni of the school district, graduating in 1993. School Board Chairperson Becky Hensley said the outpouring of support from the community in the wake of Imdieke’s death has been astounding. Superintendent Randy Bergquist announced later in the meeting that there would be no school on Thursday, May 13, so that students, staff and administration could attend and/or help out at the funeral, which will take place at 11 a.m. at the Osakis football complex.

Osakis School Board purchases more property

Land could be used for bus garage or tennis courts. 12:21 pm, Apr. 13, 2021 × The Osakis School District will be purchasing more land. The school board approved the $75,000 transaction at the Tuesday, April 12, regular school board meeting. According to Superintendent Randy Bergquist, the transaction also includes a land swap with the sellers, Scott and Janel Baker. The district is purchasing about 7 acres, which is situated between First Avenue West and First Avenue East (County Road 3), south of the school’s existing tennis courts. The district will then give the Bakers about an acre of land, which is adjacent to the Baker’s home property at the end of First Avenue West.

Osakis students urged to use free breakfast program

About 200 of the 800 students take advantage of the free program. 4:56 pm, Oct. 14, 2020 × Students in the Osakis School District are being encouraged to participate in the free breakfast program. Superintendent Randy Bergquist told School Board members Monday night at their regular meeting that there could be more participation in the program. There are roughly 800 students in the district and about 200 take advantage of the free program. At the elementary level, the district will be starting a pilot program by bringing the food to the classrooms to try and get more participation. At the high school level, the food cart is brought out in the mornings as the students come into the school as a reminder of the free breakfast.
