COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — If the fight in Ohio between a defiant political mapmaking panel and an equally stubborn Ohio Supreme Court bears a resemblance to the movie “Groundhog Day,” then long-suffering election workers are the guy caught in the daily nightmare — at least according to the head of their trade organization.

The standoff between the Ohio Supreme Court and the Republicans on the Ohio Redistricting Commission has left county election officials all over the state holding the bag, not knowing when a second primary will be held. This creates a number of problems for officials, poll workers and voters.

Election officials from across Ohio spoke Saturday morning about the states numerous safeguards that ensure the security and accuracy of elections.
