The endorsement from the committee means the vaccines will be covered by public and private insurance plans.

The CDC formally recommended the updated Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna boosters, which means jabs can ship to pharmacies across the country within days.

The newest CDC recommendations will make a new shots available as early as this week.

New vaccines will be available by the end of week.

The Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved updated Covid vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices approved the vaccines on Tuesday. The newly approved vaccine is for individuals 12 years and older and granted emergency use authorization for individuals 6 months through 11 years of age.

The new shots are similar to previously approved formulas but were updated to target strains of the virus descended from Omicron.
