New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 1,684 New Cases, Total Now 142,864 With 41 New Deaths And 65,533 Patients Recovered STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 1,684 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County reports 11 more cases today … the total is now 284 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 41 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports today the most recent cases:
434 new cases in Bernalillo County
76 new cases in Chaves County
34 new cases in Cibola County
11 new cases in Colfax County
40 new cases in Curry County
5 new cases in De Baca County

The state Department of Health reported 1,684 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and 41 additional deaths related to the disease.
Bernalillo County had the most newly reported cases on Thursday, with 434. Four other counties had 100 or more new cases: San Juan County with 196; Sandoval County with 121; Doña Ana and Lea counties with 118.
On Thursday, the department reported 803 individuals were hospitalized for COVID-19, an increase of 11 people since Wednesday. This could include those from other states who are hospitalized in New Mexico, but would not include New Mexicans who are hospitalized out of state.
DOH provided some information on each of the 41 newly reported deaths.

Iowa on Wednesday reported 1,649 new COVID-19 cases and 10 additional confirmed deaths from the virus in the 24 hours ending at 11 a.m.
The state reported 4,159 people were tested for the virus in the 24-hour period, with a 39.64 positivity rate.
Of the new cases, 215 were among children up to age 18, a category that’s seen 29,003 cases since March.
Wednesday’s numbers bring the state’s number of known cases to 278,600 since March, with COVID-19 deaths totaling 3,822, according to Iowa Department of Public Health numbers analyzed by The Gazette.
Because the Iowa Department of Public Health changed how it tracks and reports deaths in early December, there can be a longer time between when someone dies of COVID-19 and when the death is confirmed and reported on the state’s website.
