Out of the corner of your eye, you see a small, shadowy form. You know that nothing’s really there, but you can’t deny that you saw something. For the sizable number of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who develop hallucinations, this is often the first type of false vision they’ll see.
“The earliest form [are] shadows in the periphery of your vision,” says Barbara Changizi, M.D., a neurologist who specializes in treating movement disorders such as Parkinson’s at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. “That will be the first sign that something is starting to creep up.”
Virtual I in Majority Rally to target mental health among High Desert youth

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Institute for Public Strategies will host the “I in Majority Rally” on Friday, wherein youth from across the High Desert and San Bernardino County will discuss mental health strategies.
The rally s hosts include Miranda Gabaldon and Tyler Johnson, youth members of the High Desert Community Coalition, as well as Hannah Esparza, a youth member of the Adelanto Coalition.
The rally is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday and will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube.
Speakers will share how they cope with stress, who they follow as positive role models and encourage others to join them in practicing healthy-living habits, according to IPS Program Manager Sarah Boyer.
