Chicken and waffles are so passé. At Sote Gastopub in East Stroudsburg, it’s all about the fried chicken and red velvet pancakes.
It’s a twist on the Pennsylvania Dutch staple (the dish is topped with a honey yogurt sauce) and just one of the funky menu items whipped up by the restaurant’s chef, Kavon Langley.
“It is what made me hire Kavon. During our first interview, when I was talking about wanting to be a gastropub, he was going over some ideas and he mentioned that dish and I was sold,” owner Harjaap Chatha said.
