Today Warner Music Japan announced the group's fast-approaching sophomore album
META ATEM has been scrapped and will no longer be released by the label. The album had been scheduled for release on August 11, but that will no longer be the case.
For the unfamiliar, Metafive is the Japanese supergroup that features Cornelius (a.k.a. Keigo Oyamada), as well as Yellow Magic Orchestra legend Yukihiro Takahashi, Towa Tei, Leo Imai and Tomohiko Gondo.
META ATEM was set to follow-up their beloved 2016 album
Meta.
Metafive confirmed the album cancellation on their Instagram, adding that the band will also be axing various IRL events and their "METAFM" radio program on InterFM897.

Corgan made the reveal today on the band's Instagram, saying the vinyl release will be up for pre-order this Saturday (July 31) through his Madame ZuZu's website.
As the title makes clear, the album was recorded back in 1998 at the famed Hollywood venue, and it's apparently an acoustic effort.
"The thing you hear in the Viper Room show is you're really sort of being allowed into the studio where the songs don't have the accouterment of all the bells and whistles," Corgan said in the Instagram post. "There's a certain innocence before songs are released to the world."
