Alex Bourque is usually the one helping others.  He became a firefighter after watching his dad, who served for more than 30 years, and brother, who has served for nearly 10 years.  I saw the love they had for the job, the satisfaction they would get serving others, Bourque said. That’s what I like to do. I like to help people fix their problems and give up my time in any way I can.   But Bourque, who has been with the Lafayette Fire Department for six years and works part-time with the Broussard Fire Department, started having pain in his legs. The 25-year-old was diagnosed with bone cancer in April.
